Who is Christa Collins?: Courageous Christa Collins

You, like many others may be wondering who the heck Christa Collins is and what all the recent fuss concerning this girl is about. Or on the other hand you may know very little about Christa and want to know more about her. Either way this blog is intended to give a very fashionably talented underrated musician the acknowledgment she rightfully deserves. I believe it is the duty of loyal fans and supporters to help hard working artists such as Christa achieve recognition for their gift of song.

So... WHO IS CHRISTA COLLINS?

Christa Collins (age 32) is a current top 32 singing competitor on the national reality television show The X Factor USA. See Top 32 Here!

The X Factor is an American television music competition created by Simon Cowell and produced by SYCOtv. It premiered on September 21, 2011 on Fox. The winner stands to receive a $5 million recording contract with Epic Records and will also star in their own Pepsi commercial, which will air at Super Bowl XLVI on NBC. X Factor USA Wikipedia Here!

Initially the shows judges were Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, L.A. Reid, and Sheryl Cole. However, after the Los Angeles auditions Nicole Scherzinger took Sheryl’s place on the judges’ panel.

Christa Collins first auditioned in front of the judges (Simon, Paula, Sheryl, and L.A. Reid) on May 9, 2011 at the Gaylen Center, Los Angeles California in front of approximately 5,000 people attending as part of a live audience. Christa sang “These Boots are made for Walking” and received yes’s from all four judges. Christa was one of the last people to audition on this date and was praised by the judges for her boldness, daring stage presence, uniqueness, and her special/talented singing ability. Christa brought the entire Gaylen Center to their feet and was one of the last performers that brought the Los Angeles auditions to a close. I was fortunate to have been part of the audience that day and I must admit it was quite a moment.

Simon Cowell seemed surprised and very pleased with Christa’s mighty performance and went on to state once she concluded that “people would pay money to see that again”. Christa’s first audition in front of the judges was a picture perfect moment for a gutsy Christa as her individual talent shined through the masses of people attending that day. If you too were fortunate to see her live that day, then you know what I am talking about.

It is for these reasons that I can’t seem to understand why X Factor and Fox did not air Christa’s first audition in front of the judges when she sang “These boots are made for walking” creating what seems to be a some what unfair competition considering she is a top 32 contender on the show with some of the other contestants that have had over 100,000,000 hits on their YouTube audition videos that were released and aired on the show. This may be part of the reason so many people are requesting to know more about her and what she has to offer as an entertainer and competitor in this competition.

I know I personally would have liked to see the show premiere performances like Christa Collins’s rather than those of people like the guy who flashed us and almost made Paula puke lol. As a loyal Christa Collins fan I am hoping not only that this blog will shed some light onto who Christa is but will also help encourage that a genuine opportunity be given to Christa Collins to capture the hearts of America just like the other competitors have had the chance to do. She is raw entertainment and although I am well aware of the fact no words in this blog will be able to do her justice I understand it’s up to us to request that we the audience, viewers and ultimate voters be shown more!!!

ON A SIDE NOTE....

I do not know if the fact Sheryl Cole was judging Christa’s Audition 1 in Los Angeles rather than her replacement judge Nicole Scherzinger has anything to do with why her awesome performance footage has not been aired but at this point I think we all would like to see a little more of what Christa has contributed to this competition to get her to being in the top 32! I have tuned in every show hoping to see her “These boots are made for walking" performance and have been so disappointed that I haven’t been able to show my friends what I saw her do on May 9, 2011. I am really hoping that we will be able to see a little more from those in the top 32 that do not have audition videos posted on youtube or the X Factor's official website. It’s hard to believe and seems quite unfair that at this point in the competition America still doesn’t know who some of the contestants are yet...

MENTORING FROM THE JUDGES HOMES!

Since Christa’s May 9, 2011 performance at the Gaylen Center she has been competing fearlessly to equally earn her spot among the top 32 contestants including having to over come boot camp and out perform tons of other hungry singers. The top 32 contestants left on the show will begin being shown competing and being mentored at the judges homes tonight October 12, 2011 – October 18, 2011. The top 32 competitors have been divided into various groups and have been assigned a mentor. Christa has been placed in the “Over 30” category group and has been given Nicole Scherzinger as a mentor.

I must admit I am quite surprised at the mentoring assignments given to the various groups. Simon Cowell was given “The Girls” group, Paula Abdul was given “The Groups” group, L.A. Reid was given “The Boys” group to be mentored accordingly at this phase in the competition. I personally think that considering the circumstances facing the “Over 30’s” group it would have been much more entertaining and interesting to see Simon, Paula or even L.A. Reid mentor them as they are all very experienced and older themselves. I have nothing personal against Nicole but it seems kind of funny that the youngest and least experienced of the judges will be mentoring the oldest contestants who all appear to have “the most to lose” as some have expressed this will be one of their last attempts to achieve musical success at this level. To be honest I would have much rather liked to see Nicole mentor “The Group” group and Paula mentor the “Over 30’s” group. Or better yet it would have been cool if WE the audience/viewers decided which groups got mentored by which judges! (Just a thought SIMON! :) ) Although, no matter what happens in my opinion the top 32 are all already winners just managing to make it this far into the competition! I will be rooting for Christa but I most definitely must say I admire many of the contestants and wish them all the best!

That's nice... but who REALLY is CHRISTA COLLINS?

Now that I filled you in about Christa and her place in the X Factor USA competition some of you may be intrigued by her style or may simply be curious to know more about her from an up close perspectivE. Well, as a long time loyal fan of Christa’s since long before her appearance on X Factor I can say that aside from Christa’s unique style which is a culmination of the clothes and hair accessories she designs/creates paired with her gifted singing ability she truly is something special worth buzzing about. Why? Because on a more personal level Christa’s presence in this national singing competition should be accredited as being a symbol of hope and inspiration to anyone who knows what it’s like to have their dream ripped away from them and has had to learn what it really means to fight for what you want in the face of adversity and despair within their life time.

In brief, Christa was given her wings to fly by her mother Denice Larson when she was just a little girl and her mom allowed her and partnered with her to pursue her passion for music because it made Christa happy. As a rising child star Christa had her dreams crushed when her mother Denice was killed in a tragic car accident while taking Christa over seas to pursue her singing internationally. Christa knows what it is like not only to have what seems like her dreams unfairly stolen from her (while just a child and all too soon) but also has somehow managed to keep her sincere passion for music and humble spirit alive despite losing her number one fan, most loyal supporter, best friend, and biggest inspiration at the age of 12 (Awesome memorial photo of Denice on Christa's arm!). With just that being said one can only imagine what this competition must mean to her and what the road must have been like leading to securing her spot in the top 32 spot on X Factor while not giving up on her dream. So, I say let that make-up run Christa!!! Those are some well deserved tears of joy, water proof mascara sucks (can't get super fierce lashes) and you are still hot anyway!

In conclusion, Christa's musical come back as a current top 32 contestant on X Factor after given the cards her life’s hand were dealt gave me incentive to nickname her "Courageous Christa Collins"! Christa is small in stature but like I’ve said before she is mighty in spirit and vocal/entertaining ability and if you don’t believe me you will just have to take advantage of any opportunity to see her perform live and see for yourself!

To me Christa is the X Factor contestant a mother should encourage her children to be inspired by because Christa has learned how to believe in her self NO MATTER WHAT comes her way. Christa’s ability to persevere, never give up, and most importantly stay true to ones self (and in Christa’s case stay true to her own style too!) is the reason I decided to take the time to dedicate this blog to helping others get to know who she is and how they can show her love and support!
